Roderick James FRASER was born on August 22, 1915, In Vancouver, BC.

 On March 20, 1940, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Aero Engine Mechanic (Fitter IIE).

FRASER completed technical training in Canada before serving at several RCAF training establishments. He was promoted steadily through the ranks.

In February 1943, he was posted to England where he joined No. 426 Squadron, where he became an essential member of the ground crew responsible for maintaining the squadron's Wellington bomber aircraft. His exceptional mechanical skill allowed him to service aircraft at unfamiliar airfields and return them to operational status quickly, ensuring the squadron could continue its bombing missions.

• Published in the London Gazette

• Recognized his outstanding service with No. 426 Squadron.

The recommendation praised him as:

"A very competent and capable aero engine mechanic... a hard worker, conscientious and dependable... willing to work long hours, day and night, in adverse weather... a perfect leader of the highest calibre."

It further noted that his technical ability enabled aircraft to be repaired and returned to operations in record time, directly supporting the squadron's operational success.

His second recommendation stated:

"His skill and diligence have been largely responsible for the efficiency of aircraft of this squadron on operational sorties... He is extremely reliable and is an outstanding leader."

Roderick FRASER died on 3 August 2003 at the age of 87. He was a member of Matsqui Unit #315.
