On December 6, 1916, James GIBSON (aged 44 and father of nine children) enlisted with the Canadian Army Medical Corps (CAMC) where he served on the battlefields in France as a ‘Field Hospital Orderly’.  The Field Hospitals were mobile front-line medical units manned by troops of the CAMC.

James sustained work related injuries due to long periods of standing as an orderly and the lifting of stretchers. He survived the war and returned to Mt. Lehman. 

He died on February 5, 1959 (87) and is buried at Mountainview Cemetery, Vancouver, BC.
